From 3rd to 5th September the 7th Ferrari Racingdays took place at the Nuerburgring. In pretty late summer weather, you were able to rejoice in an attractive program, with which the organizer Ferrari Germany GmbH definitely conform to all expectations.
Among exciting races of the Ferrari Challenge with participants throughout Europe, also the Ferrari GT class showed up for the first time at the Racingdays. Most participants drove Ex-Challenge vehicles of type 355 or 360. Other vehicles were converted above all aerodynamic. With Franz Aigner at the wheel, the only factory Ferrari 360 GTC started with number 50.
Between qualification runs and racing, some members of the Ferrari Club Germany and other drivers could take part at the regularity tests. Here ambitious owners of different Ferrari streets vehicles were able to demonstrate their driving skills. The drivers predetermined a time to race the track, which should be gone then in the next round if possible at the same time. Naturally also the fastest round counted at the end.
With the appearance of the special limited Ferrari models the spectators got a unique view. On Sunday the field consisted of 9 Ferrari Enzo Ferrari, 5 Ferrari F50, 5 Ferrari F40, 2 Ferrari 288 GTO and 2 Ferrari 550 Barchetta.
The following view at the paddock reserved only for Ferrari street vehicles let the heart of every Ferrari enthusiast beat faster. Between around 1000 Ferrari there were also some highlights, so for example a 500 Superfast, or one of only 40 black 250 GT Pininfarina Coupés.
The spectators expected an especially one-shot with the demo-runs of the "Ferrari F1 Clienti". The oldest vehicle of the 13 F1-bolides was the 312 B2 with which Jacky Ickx had a spectaculary victory in 1972 at the Nürburgring. In the past all further F1-Cars were driven by pilots like Clay Regazzoni, Nigel Mansell, Alain Prost, Jean Alesi, Eddie Irvine and Michael Schumacher. Also two 333 SP took part at the demonstration.
On sunday afternoon the absolute highlight was of cause the visit of the 7 times world champion Michael Schumacher. After the dynamic presentation of the new Maserati MC12, a super sports car with 630PS, Michael Schumacher also introduced the Ferrari 575 MS "Handling-GTC". With this execution, Ferrari brings race technology of the 575 GTC racecar onto street. Michael Schumacher had a lot of fun while he became interviewed during the ride by the well known formula 1 moderator in germany named Kai Ebel. In such a good mood , you could hardly imagine that the 7 times world champion had mastered a boisterous accident at a speed of over 300 kp/h during the training session at Monza. Shortly after Michael changed to the last year formula 1 bolide F2003-GA. After some laps and deafening powerslides he surprised the audience by changing the direction.
Moreover there was a further sensation within the scope of the Ferrari Racingdays. On Saturday evening the new Ferrari 430 was introduced during the galadinner for the first time. The audience could examine the successor of the 360 Modena from all sides, also the interior. The silouette has been almost obtained compared to the 360 Modena. You could only spot the Ferrari Enzo Ferrari like backlights and the new designed front party. The first impression was incredible. Officially the new Ferrari will be introduced at the Paris Mondial de l'Automobile from 25th september to 10th october.
