The Ferrari Club New Zealand gets involved with disabled children in a very special way.
Every year, they arrange the "Charity Day" at the Pukekohe racetrack, 35km southward of Auckland.
That should allow and help the children to forget their handicap and make them smile all over the face.
This year, the Ferrari Club hosted the organisation "Heart Children", who take care of children with
heart diseases. This "Charity Day" has been very different from previous years as these kids are not
wheelchair bound. Right after the drivers briefing and some test driving, the kids were invited to jump in
the Ferraris. While racing around the track, their smile got bigger and bigger. The pit lane has been
converted from tire-changing into kid-changing. The enthusiastic kids jumped quick out of the cars to
get into the queue again and race again and again. During the well-deserved break for men and car,
there has been some delicious lunch and even more smiling faces, because the dessert consisted of
sponsored gifts. All kids recieved Ferrari caps, drinking bottles and even a Ferrari watch.
And after that, to the track again! The owners raced with the kids until dusk and made it a very special
day for them.
