35. AvD Oldtimer Grandprix 2007 |
||
We hardly couldn't believe it when we arrived around 8:30am at the Nuerburgring. "Nothing like this ever had happened in the 35 years of the AVD Oldtimer-Grandprix" sounded off the loudspeakers around the race track. Because of dense fog with a sight between 5 and 20 meters, racing was not possible at all, not for a single oldtimer. And not only for a few minutes, but for the whole day, every race was canceled. So we made our way to the old paddock in search for red ones. Finally arrived, some nice sights showed up in the fog: a Dino 246 F1 and right next to it, the wonderful 2006 at Sotheby's sold Dino 196 SP (0790).
Further on, we visited the FIA acceptance tests and the pits, from where all the participating Ferrari didn't moved for the rest of the day. Even at the Ferrari parking area in the paddock it was hard to find one of the few Ferrari that although showed up. So all we could do, just like the drivers, was to hope for better conditions on the next day.
However, a gleam of hope was the warm and bright marquee of the Coys Auction, situated in the paddock. To auction came up 3 Ferrari: a Ferrari 275 GTB (07173), after a heavy fire built up as a Competizione and a Ferrari 250 GT Pinin Farina Coupe (1549GT), owned by an Italian Collector. The around 800 HP strong Ferrari 308 Carma FF (18923) has been raced from 1979 on as a group 5 race car and came up for auction as well.

But apparently all those prayers found their way to the right address: not much later the day was about to start, the fog slowly went away. As Ferrari cars raced later after several other races, we took our time to take photos of the arriving Ferrari sport scars and gave them a warm welcome.
Around 11:45am the World Sportscar Masters started with some delay, leading by Paul Knapfield in his breathtaking Ferrari 712 CanAm, but he admittedly finished 5th. Subsequent the 2-seater race cars until 1960 started up, including the above mentioned Dino 196 SP, the Ferrari 275 S / 340 America of Michael Willms and a Ferrari 500 Mondial Pinin Farina Spyder. Afterwards, the Revival Deutsche Rennsportmeisterschaft 1972 - 1981 raced around the grand prix course, with the Ferrari 308 GTB, driven by Daniel Bernecker and a Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Competizione.

August 2007 Veranstaltung: AvD Oldtimer Grandprix After thrilling races with marvelous beauties, we took a look at the Ferrari-parking area in the paddock. Now a lot of Ferrari already showed up. But there have been some spare lots, because these cars were on their way to a corso around the Nuerburgring. So we hurried up back to the track, close to the new "Michael Schumacher S", where the cars came up on the race course.
To the delight of the spectators, not only modern street Ferrari showed up. 2 wonderful Ferrari 275 GTB, and the already several times at the Oldtimer Grandprix seen Ferrari 250 GTE 2+2 from Bremen, a Ferrari 330 GT 2+2 series 1 and a Ferrari 250 GT Ellena driven by Mario Barth shared the track with the fast modern cars in now perfect conditions. As well the interesting green Dino 246 GT, that we already mentioned in our report of the 60-years celebration in Maranello raced around the track.
