In 1953 the Ferrari 340 MM was launched as a successor of the 340 America. The 12 cylinder engine was designed by Lampredi and generates around 300hp out of 4.1l displacement.

This 340 MM was originally built with a Touring Spider body, it was the official car in the 1953 Mille Miglia.
Due to an race accident in 1954 the car was heavy damaged, there was no way to repair the body.

The new created body by Scaglietti remind of the Ferrari 500 TRC.
