The Ferrari Dino 268SP was powered by a V8-engine. Its innovation were 4 special-carburettors mounted directly to the cylinder heads.
That caused the possibility to construct a much more flat engine block.
But already after the first race the engine setup was modified with a new type of crank shaft, the displacement was raised up to 24645ccm and the
car recieied a new name: Ferrari Dino 268SP.
At the Nuerburgring 1962 the 268SP was very unlucky, Pedro Rodriguez slipped of the road due to heavy rain falls already in the 5th round.
Not much later the Ferrari Dino 268SP was raced in Le Mans together with 15(!) other Ferrari. Driven by Baghetti and Scarfiotti they needed to break up
the race being in second position caused by gear box problems.
