In Spring 1966 the 365 California Spyder was launched at the Auto Show in Geneva as the successor of the Ferrari 500 Superfast. Only 14 exemplars of the "California" were made, and most of them were delivered to the United States.

The engine of the around 5 meter long two seater emanated from the 365 P race cars and performed 320 HP out of 4,39l displacement. The exclusive car is based on the same chassis with 2,65m wheel base like the predecessor 500 Superfast and the 330 GT.
The front end with the 2 disappearing fog lights is kind of similar to the 500 Superfast, but the square-edged rear end is completely self-contained and is a good contrast to the well-formed front.

Right before delivering the last "California" in Summer 1967, Ferrari already launched it's successor in Paris: the Ferrari 365 GT.
